From 10b5966bf656bc25261171f6fbf4ea35eff246af Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Max Kellermann Date: Tue, 30 Dec 2008 19:20:20 +0100 Subject: main_notify: removed notify object, use only pipe To wake up the main thread, don't attempt to use a GCond/GMutex (struct notify). This kind of mixed wakeup method has known race conditions. The idea behind this patch is: for wakeups which happen while the main thread is sleeping, use only a pipe. For wakeups which happen while the main thread is waiting for the player thread, we can later change to GCond. For now, accept the overhead of using a pipe for the latter. In the long run, the main thread will never wait for the player thread, but will do everything asynchronously. --- src/main_notify.c | 51 +++++++++++++++++---------------------------------- 1 file changed, 17 insertions(+), 34 deletions(-) diff --git a/src/main_notify.c b/src/main_notify.c index dc97529fe..68df0b44b 100644 --- a/src/main_notify.c +++ b/src/main_notify.c @@ -19,7 +19,6 @@ */ #include "main_notify.h" -#include "notify.h" #include "utils.h" #include "ioops.h" #include "log.h" @@ -31,8 +30,6 @@ static struct ioOps main_notify_IO; static int main_pipe[2]; GThread *main_task; -static struct notify main_notify; -static GMutex *select_mutex = NULL; static int ioops_fdset(fd_set * rfds, G_GNUC_UNUSED fd_set * wfds, @@ -44,7 +41,7 @@ static int ioops_fdset(fd_set * rfds, static void consume_pipe(void) { - char buffer[2]; + char buffer[256]; ssize_t r = read(main_pipe[0], buffer, sizeof(buffer)); if (r < 0 && errno != EAGAIN && errno != EINTR) @@ -65,67 +62,53 @@ static int ioops_consume(int fd_count, fd_set * rfds, void init_main_notify(void) { - g_assert(select_mutex == NULL); - select_mutex = g_mutex_new(); main_task = g_thread_self(); init_async_pipe(main_pipe); main_notify_IO.fdset = ioops_fdset; main_notify_IO.consume = ioops_consume; registerIO(&main_notify_IO); main_task = g_thread_self(); - notify_init(&main_notify); } void deinit_main_notify(void) { - notify_deinit(&main_notify); deregisterIO(&main_notify_IO); xclose(main_pipe[0]); xclose(main_pipe[1]); - g_assert(select_mutex != NULL); - g_mutex_free(select_mutex); - select_mutex = NULL; -} - -static int wakeup_via_pipe(void) -{ - gboolean ret = g_mutex_trylock(select_mutex); - if (ret == FALSE) { - ssize_t w = write(main_pipe[1], "", 1); - if (w < 0 && errno != EAGAIN && errno != EINTR) - FATAL("error writing to pipe: %s\n", - strerror(errno)); - return 1; - } else { - g_mutex_unlock(select_mutex); - return 0; - } } void wakeup_main_task(void) { - main_notify.pending = 1; - - if (!wakeup_via_pipe()) - notify_signal(&main_notify); + ssize_t w = write(main_pipe[1], "", 1); + if (w < 0 && errno != EAGAIN && errno != EINTR) + g_error("error writing to pipe: %s", strerror(errno)); } void main_notify_lock(void) { assert(main_task == g_thread_self()); - g_mutex_lock(select_mutex); } void main_notify_unlock(void) { assert(main_task == g_thread_self()); - g_mutex_unlock(select_mutex); } void wait_main_task(void) { + fd_set rfds; + int ret; + assert(main_task == g_thread_self()); - notify_wait(&main_notify); -} + do { + FD_ZERO(&rfds); + FD_SET(main_pipe[0], &rfds); + ret = select(main_pipe[0] + 1, &rfds, NULL, NULL, NULL); + } while (ret == 0 || (ret < 0 && (errno == EAGAIN || errno == EINTR))); + if (ret < 0) + g_error("select() failed: %s", strerror(errno)); + + consume_pipe(); +} -- cgit v1.2.3
